Dastaas

Dastaas is the third venture by the founders of this café-bakery in the café-restaurant industry. After the remarkable success of Café Kariz and Deam, they have embarked on a fresh journey with Dastaas, bringing a new vision to the world of artisanal baking. The name Dastaas means a hand-operated mill. Since the brand operates in the bakery domain—and bread has a history as old as humanity itself—we drew inspiration from the primitive and organic forms of pottery discovered at Tepe Sialk. Given the soft and pliable texture of dough, all visual elements have been designed to evoke a gentle, fluid aesthetic. Additionally, historical depictions of hand mills often show two people working together, symbolizing collaboration and teamwork. Inspired by this, some of our designs feature illustrations of two individuals facing each other. Wheat, the primary ingredient in bread, grows naturally with the help of essential elements like sunlight and soil. To reflect this connection, we incorporated these natural elements into our design. Even the zigzag patterns found in ancient Susa (Shush) pottery have been subtly integrated, representing agricultural fields. The color palette ranges from various shades of Iranian turquoise to warm creams, symbolizing nature, the brand’s deep Iranian roots, and its modern approach.
